Here is a review of the Texas AP Broadcasters board of directors conference call on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, with:

-- CHAIRMAN: Rick Hadley, WBAP Radio, Dallas-Fort Worth
-- TV VICE PRESIDENT: Jenny Martinez, KRGV, Weslaco
-- RADIO PRESIDENT: Emily Donahue, KUT, Austin.
-- RADIO VICE PRESIDENT: Chace Murphy, WTAW, Bryan-College Station
-- and Dallas AP's Barry Bedlan and Diana Heidgerd.

1. TAPB Balance.
-- Previous statement balance, $21,591.28
ADD two contest entry deposits on Feb. 17; $5,600 and $14,930 (that total was $20,530).
GRAND TOTAL: $42,121.28 (does NOT include pending entry fees/corporate checks, see below).

2. BILLS to be paid.
Board approved payment of the following bills:
-- Global Crossing: $11.23 from January 14 conference call
-- Noble Sprayberry, Webmaster. $150 total. That's $50 for February, plus $100 invoice for work done this week after www.tapb.org crashed, had to be rebuilt.
-- Dallas AP's Diana Heidgerd: $25.77, mailing costs for Web site entries (individual sites and for specialty entries) to judges, sites to be looked at prior to March 5-7 judging weekend in Dallas.

3. CONTEST: Review of Feb. 13 sorting by Rick Hadley & Jenny Martinez
-- TOTAL DEPOSITS from Feb. 13 sorting: $20,530.
Total pending/corporate checks: $7,575. So overall total from entry fees for 2009-2010 TAPB contest should be approx: $28,105.

-- Stations entered in 2010: 41 (12 radio & 29 TV). Compares to 51 stations entered in 2009 (12 radio/39 TV) and 61 stations entered in 2008 (15 radio/46 TV).
-- Entry money in 2010: will be $28,105. Compares to 2009 of $29,270 and 2008 total $39,535.
-- Number of entries in 2010: 660 (465 TV & 195 radio). Compares to 2009 691 entries (528 TV & 163 radio)...and 2008: 913 entries (746 TV & 167 radio).

4. MEALS for March 5-7 TAPB judging weekend.

APPROVED: Sonny Bryan's BBQ (same lunch company as during judging previously at Bradford Suites Hotel): Catering packages start at $9.99 for a choice of two meats and $10.99 for a choice of three meats. All packages include potato salad, cole slaw, BBQ beans, rolls, relish tray, BBQ sauce, cookies or brownies, and tea or lemonade. Delivery and set up for a $25 fee. Hilton Homewood Suites folks say Sonny Bryan's lunch being delivered is fine with them.
-- APPROVED: DINNER on Saturday night, March 6. Gaylord Texan Riverwalk café. Buffet of $28 per person, plus tax/gratuity, includes water, iced tea, soft drinks, coffee, and juices.
-- NOTE: Diana will bring in sandwiches for lunch on Sunday, as needed.

5. FOIFT
-- Entries? Jenny Martinez says so far one entry received. Deadline to enter is Feb. 19.

6. SCHOLARSHIP
-- Entries? Rick Hadley says so far no scholarships received. Deadline to enter is Feb. 19.

7. OTHER BUSINESS?
-- NONE

All six board members will be at Hilton Homewood Suites in Grapevine on Saturday, March 6, for the start of radio/TV contest judging weekend.
