This award is given in memory of longtime Texas journalist Carole
Kneeland. Kneeland died in 1998 after a lengthy battle with cancer. At
the time of her death she was vice president/news at KVUE-TV in Austin.

The TAPB and the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas will
again honor outstanding efforts by a radio or television station on FOI
issues.
There is no entry fee. One entry per station, please.
The winner will be announced Saturday, April 24, 2010 during the TAPB
convention awards banquet at the Headliners Club in Austin.
Entries must be postmarked by Friday, Feb. 19, 2010.

Entries may include good coverage of issues (i.e. a series on
information to which the public has access); good commentary; legal
action taken by the entrant in the interest of the public's right to
know; or a continuing effort by the entrant on behalf of Freedom of
Information issues.
An entry should consist of no more than 10 exhibits, pertaining to a
story (or stories) that aired in 2009.
-- The first exhibit should be a letter outlining the FOI effort for
which the station seeks recognition.
-- The remaining exhibits should support the information in the
letter. Each exhibit should be numbered.
The additional exhibits may include, (1) story and/or commentaries
aired concerning the issue, and (2) court records or other documents
supporting the entrant's pursuit of the FOI issue.

TV entries should be on DVD (DVD-minus-R or DVD-plus-R format).
Radio stations should send audio CD's.
All entries become the property of the TAPB.
Judges will consider writing and presentation, as well as resources
available to the station.
Special attention will be given to the impact of the station's FOI
effort.
