.........
1. TAPB FINANCES.
-- $25,407.28. This is with all bills paid through the April TAPB convention.
2. BILLS to be paid/OK:
-- Global Crossing, cost for May 21 conf call: $4.28.
-- Noble Sprayberry, July Webmaster fee: $50
3. 2010 TAPB convention.
-- The board voted to hold the 2010 TAPB convention at the Headliners Club in Austin.
The TAPB event usually is in Austin in odd-numbered years, which coincided with the Texas legislative session. This year's event was
April 25.
But the board, as a money-saving move/better availability of hotel rooms, decided to return to Austin on Saturday, April 17, 2010 (provided
that date is available with the Headliners Club). Backup date would be following Saturday, April 24, 2010.
If it seems cheaper for people to attend the 2010 convention, when the Legislature is not in session, then TAPB board would hold the 2011
convention in a city other than Austin, then return to Austin in 2012.
Diana checked with Bergan Casey of the Headliners Foundation, who said the group would still want to co-sponsor the April 2010 event, with
financial support, etc.
4. 2010 TAPB contest judging/set tentative dates:
-- Board set Friday-Sunday, March 5-7, as contest judging dates in Dallas. The board endorsed bringing in 8 TV & 2 radio judges (compared
to this year's 10 TV and 2 radio judges). The number of entries was down this year, judges finished earlier than expected.
Board also OK'd returning to the Hilton Homewood Suites near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, if the hotel still has DVD/CD
players in each room, for 2010 judging. Diana will negotiate for the rooms, same as last year.
5. TAPB co-sponsored Southwest Broadcast Seminar
-- Tentative date Saturday, Oct. 24 in Dallas, at Southern Methodist University.
Board voted to donate $750 to the effort, which is also co-sponsored by Texas Association of Broadcasters, Radio-Television News Directors
Foundation, and other broadcast groups. TAPB last year gave $500. TAPB chairman Rick Hadley and AP's Diana Heidgerd are on the planning
committee.
6. Other business?
-- NONE.
Next TAPB board meeting Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 10:30 a.m.
Thanks!
