2015 Southwest Broadcast Newsroom Workshop

Registration is open for the 2015 Southwest Broadcast Newsroom Workshop.

The Texas Association of Broadcasters, Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences are co-sponsoring this daylong seminar featuring national and state speakers.

The event will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the JW Marriott, 110 E. 2nd Street, Austin, TX 78701.

The newsroom workshop takes place during the day.

The Lone Star Emmy Awards dinner takes place in the evening.

Promoting your TAPB awards

Each year the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters (“TAPB”) recognizes excellence and achievement in journalism with awards in various categories.

Your promotion must state the “Texas Associated Press Broadcasters” (NOT Associated Press) as the award’s source.

— Promotional use of the word “Best” will apply only to first-place winners.

Any use of a reference to a TAPB award that in any way misleads the public about a TAPB award, including but not limited to distorted or exaggerated claims, is strictly prohibited.

Violations of either the spirit or intent of this prohibition may result in the disqualification of the offending entity from TAPB contests for a one-year period.

TAPB board reserves all rights to determine the truthfulness of any promotion that uses a reference to TAPB awards. The TAPB will be the sole determiner of whether or not a violation has occurred.

TAPB FINANCES/Balance: $19,190.87. 2. BILLS to be paid: Board approved following payments: _ September and October $50 per month to webmaster Noble Sprayberry _ Level 3 Communications: $17.30 for last TAPB conference call _ Cyndy Moore, $225 for 9 hours of work (invoice submitted) during the April 13, 2013, TAPB convention in Austin. 3. TAPB-Tax ID Status? _ Update from Benji Snead on proposed overhaul of TAPB rules, to get a tax ID for the group. Benji is working on the proposal, will have a complete draft ready in time for the November TAPB board conference call. Mike George previously contacted Sanders, who earlier this year joined KENS, and she indicated she would be very interested in joining the panel. UPDATE: Mike George says Sanders has agreed to join the board as TAPB vice president! Welcome! …………. 2.
