May 2009 Board Actions

There was no quorum during the May 21, 2009, Texas AP Broadcasters board of directors conference call, but the board had anticipated some bills to be paid.

Current TAPB balance: $30,819.38.

So the board -- via e-mail -- later approved payment of the following
bills:

-- the Headliners Club bill, from the April 25 business session & awards banquet: $5,309.60.
-- May/Webmaster/Noble: $50
-- Global Crossing/April conference call: $24.30
-- TAPB needs to reimburse AP $80.43 for the cost of shipping tubes for the 2nd place certificates to be mailed.

Headliners Foundation of Texas Charles E. Green Awards were also presented, along with regional Radio-Television News Directors Association Awards, for Texas & Oklahoma stations.

2009 Scholarship Winners

Two students each received $1,500.

Naxiely Lopez attends the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg. Jacqueline Baylon attends Texas State University in San Marcos.

One student received a $1,000 TAPB scholarship, to be added to $3,000 in Headliners Foundation of Texas scholarship funds. Xorje Andres Olivares attends the University of Texas at Austin.
